Good Neighbor Fund

We help local families and individuals with one-time emergency expenses. Those interested should first go to Kent County Social Services to make sure they aren't eligible for services there. Once referred to the Good Neighbor Fund, you will be interviewed by a volunteer Good Neighbor Fund representative, as well as a representative from the Salvation Army and the Samaritan Group. Based on the your circumstances and eligibility, you will receive a grant, paid directly to the vendor (landlord, pharmacy, utilities, etc.) Each person is eligible for a grant once in a 12 month period. If the grant does not cover the entire expense, you must provide the balance yourself or from another resource. Interviews are every Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church (southeast corner of High and Mill Streets using the Mill Street entrance).
