Title:  Executive Director

 

Reports to:  Board of Directors

 

Overview of Responsibilities:

 

The Executive Director is the face of the United Way of Kent County.  The incumbent’s primary responsibility is facilitating fund-raising to fulfill the mission of improving human service needs in the County. The Executive Director works directly with the Board of Directors and Member Agencies and, as the steward of the brand, is responsible for building trust in United Way and its relevance in the community.

Community Impact

The ED is responsible for the overall impact of United Way of Kent County in the community, with particular emphasis on establishing and building relationships with top leaders in the community.  The ED works closely with the Board to craft and adapt the strategy to achieve this increased impact, including raising the funds to support it. S/he is responsible for fostering relationships with member agencies and encouraging inter-agency cooperation.  Coordinates the Allocation meetings annually with potential and existing member agencies.

 

Resource Development/Fundraising

The Executive Director is charged with leading successful efforts in fundraising; to assist the Board to identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors and key leaders of prospective new corporate partners. The ED is responsible for the implementation and success of new and existing workplace campaigns.

 

Strategic Management

The Executive Director works with the Board of Directors and the Strategic Planning committee to support the strategic goals of the organization when developed.

 

Organization Management

The Executive Director maintains accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the organization within policies set by the Board of Directors. Oversees/maintains the donor database and social media presence. Works with the Treasurer to manage organizational spending, monitor budget compliance, and mitigate financial risk, and ensures that policies reflecting United Way of Kent County goals of inclusiveness and diversity among agencies and volunteers are in place. Various administrative duties as assigned.

 

Work Schedule:  Full-time 40 hours weekly.  Hours are flexible since attendance at meetings outside normally scheduled hours may be required.
